THE CHRISTIAN ETHIC NEWSLETTER      February 2004

The state superintendent for Georgia's public schools wants to remove the word evolution from the state's science curriculum and replace it with the phrase "biological changes over time".  Superintendent Kathy Cox made it clear that the concept of evolution would still be taught but the word would not be used in the curriculum.

It may surprise you to know that Ms. Cox is a Republican. It was reported that her reason for the proposed change is, in part, to remove pressure on teachers in socially conservative areas where parents object to its teaching.

As a Christian who believes in ALL of God's word, this is very disturbing to me. While communicating with Ms. Cox, I expressed my concern that the action which she has taken is not sufficient because the falsehood of evolution still exists in the curriculum. Such content, in effect, bears false witness to our neighbors who include our children.  Sharing a fiction story in a literature class may be appropriate but not in the science domain where facts - not fiction - should be taught.

I reminded Ms. Cox that some will say that our young people should be exposed to both the evolution and creation theories so they can decide for themselves what is true.  IF creation by God was a theory, I would fully agree!

As soon as my book A Worker Need Not Be Ashamed is released this spring, I invite anyone who questions creation to explore the plain truth about the Christian work ethic. In Chapter One, I describe the work ethic of God as he created the earth and all other parts of the massive universe. God as the first worker labored for six days to bring the universe into existence! That, my friend, is the truth - not a theory - and that truth needs to be taught to all students in our great country!

If all of creation just simply evolved, I invite anyone who believes this to tear down the most complicated watch, throw its parts on the floor, and watch them slowly come back together! As soon as the watch reassembles itself, contact me and I will go to Hollywood and easily convince them to make a motion picture about this most marvelous event!

May God Bless You!
