THE CHRISTIAN WORK ETHIC NEWSLETTER
December  2004

I am troubled and deeply saddened when I see Christians who try to put God into compartments.  When they come into the Church to worship, they know that Jesus is there!  BUT when they arrive at work ? ? ? ?

Many leave him outside the door!   Jesus has told us to open the door and he will come in!

Yes!  I do not deny that the world has a problem with you and me when we exercise our faith as we labor!  Just ask the Alabama man who wore a lapel pin depicting the Ten Commandments to work in order to show his support for ousted state Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore and was fired!

On the other hand, work based Bible Study groups have been established at a variety of companies across the nation, including Coca Cola, American Airlines, Intel and Sears!  Thank God for all workers and management who make this workplace ministry possible!

BUT, in the final analysis, the decision to carry your faith with you to work does not rest with a company or a boss or anyone else!  NO ONE can stop YOU from having Jesus in your heart at work!  NO ONE can stop YOU from praying on the job!  NO ONE can stop YOU from being an ambassador for Jesus Christ on the job by displaying a loving attitude toward your co-workers and the boss!   YES, they will see that you are DIFFERENT and you will know why!

That is why Jesus is truly the REASON for the SEASON as we celebrate His Birthday!

In my book, A Worker Need Not Be Ashamed,  I remind my readers that life is all about CHOICES!   Do you choose to have Jesus with you at work or do you leave Him at the door  ? ? ?

The choice is yours!   And, your choice will ultimately determine whether you are a joyous worker who works as unto the Lord OR whether you create your own torment as you earn your living!   I pray that you will be a worker who need not be ashamed and invite Jesus to be with you on the job!

JIM  HOGSETT  TO  SPEAK  AT LIBERTY  UNIVERSITY

An invitation has been extended to me to speak at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia in 2005.  It is an honor to be associated with this outstanding school that is training champions for Christ!

In addition to this engagement, I will be taking my message to audiences in Time Square and Harlem in New York City and to the annual meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Christian Education Association next year.

More details on 2005 events will be forthcoming in our future newsletters .

                                              SPECIAL  GIFTS  AND SPECIAL  THANKS!

The Thanksgiving Holiday has come and gone but CHRISTmas and all other days of the year should also be a time of thankfulness!  As I review 2004,  I find I am blessed by so many who have shared with me their gifts to Worker Ministries!

I am thankful to have Kathy Perkinson serve as our Vice President. She continues to be my major encourager and confidant especially as I engage in new ventures in order to promote the Christian work ethic.

Words can not describe the tremendous talents of Rick Martin who serves as our Technical Advisor. He is not only a wonderful Christian businessman but also continues to use his technical abilities to support our ministry.  I am also thankful that he has become a TRUE special friend who, because of his integrity, has also become a special adviser on ways to promote the Christian work ethic!

I am thankful for thousands whom I have met this year as they have listened to my message on "Living the Purpose Driven Life in the Workplace"!   These workers could have been engaged in other activities but chose to come into the House of the Lord to hear God's Word concerning the Christian work ethic.

I am thankful that over 25,000 book stores worldwide are carrying my book and thankful for all of those wonderful people who are buying it!  I pray that it will not only inspire you but help you during this journey through your work life.

Last but not least, I am thankful for ministers of the gospel who have opened their doors to me to enable me to speak to their flock.  You have helped me greatly to establish a credibility which is necessary as I continue to contact pastors across America concerning Worker Ministries and how it can help their flock.

While I can not name all of the churches concerned, I wish to THANK pastors in Area 1-A of our ministry in which I live for your support this year:
