THE CHRISTIAN WORK ETHIC NEWSLETTER
The May 2004 edition of Guideposts has been released and includes a personal story which I have written called "A New Direction". My book A Worker Need Not Be Ashamed which has also just been released is highlighted in the Family Room section of the magazine. In addition, Guideposts has elected to link to the Worker Ministries web site on their .com web page.
Guideposts is now available at retail stores throughout America including Wal Mart so you no longer have to subscribe to it; just buy it every month because each copy is informative and inspirational!
This outstanding publication was founded by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and his wife. It is one of America's top ten largest monthly magazines with a circulation of 2.6 million and a readership of 8 million.
WARNING:MY NEW BOOK IS R RATED!
The R is for Realistic and Relevant! WARNING: This is not a book of opinions about the Christian work ethic. It is the TRUTH because it is based on the Word of God and God does not have opinions about anything - only TRUTH!
It is important to understand this because the truth often hurts and frequently results in false accusations! You need only to look at criticisms concerning the awesome movie The Passion of the Christ to see how the ungodly react toward the Gospel account of the crucifiction of the Son of God. I am prepared to receive the same reaction from some of my future readers but I can not compromise on God's Word.
Simply stated, A Worker Need Not Be Ashamed is a training guide on HOW TO LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IN THE WORKPLACE.
Writing it along with conducting extensive research on my subject was a three-year project. Another two years was required to review all content with a team of advisors consisting of ordinary workers, pastors, and close friends. Some of the content also had to be put under the microscope to address any legal concerns with our attorney for Worker Ministries.
Because of downsizings, restructuring, discrimination, increased work loads, unethical business practices, and other such negative situations that cause more and more stress in the workplace, I am more convinced that this publication is needed today than when I first envisioned it.
No, God never promised that life at work would ever be a bowl of cherries. On the other hand, He also did not intend for any worker to live in torment one third of their life!
I did not write the book for it to become a best seller because W-O-R-K to many is the awful four-letter dirty word! Sadly, some will turn away from this horrible subject and will continue to live in the pits of hell while working. But, if it helps to lift up ONE person to fulfill his or her mission, it will be well worth the effort because one person is ONE LIFE!
To those who buy it, Happy Reading! I pray that it will help you to be one of those many workers who need not be ashamed!
Very truly yours,
Jim Hogsett,Writer for Guideposts Magazine and President/Founder; WORKER MINISTRIES
