FOR MANY AMERICAN WORKERS THE JOY OF WORKING HAS DISAPPEARED BECAUSE THE CHRISTIAN WORK ETHIC IS ABSENT!
Work has become a dirty four-letter word for millions! Someone has said that it can be defined as that annoying time between naps! Numerous surveys have shown that over half of American workers are dissatisfied and restless. Many have become professional job hoppers moving from job to job looking for happiness!
For Christian workers, there is a great chasm between the pulpit and the workplace. The content of sermons seems to be lost before arriving at the workplace and, therefore, is never applied. The results can be devastating:
Those nagging work problems are frequently taken home. The failure to separate job problems from family challenges may adversely affect the marriage!
Unfortunately, bad messages about work are often overheard by children in the family. They are "programmed" with negative messages instead of a positive understanding that the four-letter word is an honorable calling from God! It is no wonder we continue to raise up new generations who dread the sound of an early morning alarm clock!
Work often becomes a hell-on-earth lifestyle one third of a lifetime!
Lack of living the Christian life in the workplace is an indictment against Jesus Christ who has sent us to this earth to find our mission and to serve Him so others can see Him through us!
Because of these and other consequences, WORKER MINISTRIES was created in 2001 by Jim Hogsett, its founder and President. Simply stated, our mission is to promote the Christian work ethic. Our ministries reach out to help workers through five major mediums.
Our web site, which includes an ASK JIM page, can be used when you need advice concerning job-related issues. Other help on this site is also available including a valuable monthly newsletter. These services are FREE!
The book, A Worker Need Not Be Ashamed, was written by Jim Hogsett. It contains 288 pages of answers to worker frustrations based on the plain truth about the Christian work ethic.
The monthly newsletter from our web site is also e-mailed to more than 12,000 subscribers.
Jim Hogsett is available to speak to your church congregation and in other organizations. His message on "Living the Purpose Driven Life in the Workplace"is being delivered in Sunday services (morning or evening), Wednesday evening services, and to special church groups (men, women, and youth).
In addition, we conduct workshops which are described on the SEMINARS page of this web site. All presentations are based on God's Word in which the Creator of the universe refers to work over 800 times!
Jim Hogsett believes in walking the talk and, for this reason, he continues to practice the Christian work ethic on the front line of the workplace. He exercises his safety/training expertise as a private consultant for a transit service that provides transportation for clients who are unable to drive due to physical/health problems. He also conducts a weekly prayer service for residents at a Alzheimer’s facility.
Such work has been integrated into his full-time responsibilities as President of Worker Ministries.

A PRAYER FOR OUR NATION
On January 8, 2012, Reverend Sean Quinlan prayed for our nation during the Sunday Morning service at Calvary Baptist Church in New York City. When in New York, Calvary Baptist is Jim Hogsett's church away from home. Jim attended that service and we wish to share the prayer with you. Click here.
